Bodger Seeds has done it again, they've planted another floral
flag, this time in remembrance of September 11, 2001. Although
not in full bloom as of this post, the pride and patriotism
is. Bodger Seeds has planted floral flags before in Lompoc.
First, during World War II and later during the Korean War.
You can view a photo of a mural depicting a previous planting
of the floral flag by clicking

Well,
I didn't make it to the dedication, but I did go up to Lookout
Point on one of the shuttle busses. This floral flag is different
than the ones in the past; this one has pointed stars. While
taking the ride back down the hill, the shuttle bus operator
mentioned that flower companies are shrinking and slowly leaving
the Lompoc area. I as well as many others have noticed that
for awhile now. A couple of us on the bus were talking about
how Lompoc won't be the "Flower Valley" or "Valley
of Flowers" for too much longer. Most of the fields are
being used for agriculture purposes.
To
view a couple photos I took while up at Lookout Point click
the link below; it will open in a new window which you can
close when done. They're not the best photos I've taken, but
I hope to take more that will be of better quality soon.
